HISTORY OF NERJA
The first settlers date back from Paleolithic to Bronze period, going through the Epipaleolithic and Neolithic, with important human remains belonging to Cro-Magnon.
In the 10th century a tower was erected on the coastline, similar to the ones existing in other places along the coast.
When the Muslims of Vélez finally surrendered in 1487 to Ferdinand, the Catholic Monarch, they were followed by the inhabitants of most part of the Axarquía region in this action. In the Christian chronicles this action is reported and Narija, the current Nerja is mentioned in such chronicles.
There was an enormous earthquake on 25th December 1884 and due to this unfortunate event His Majesty the King Alphons XII came to visit the affected areas. After admiring the paseo de la 'batería' he officially named it as the 'Balcón de Europa'. The Council was also honoured with the title 'Most Excellent'. The discovery of the Nerja Caves in 1956 is the symbol of the new boost and later on came the big tourist boom involving both progress and prosperity, changing the social face of Nerja.

I would like to take the opportunity to say thank you for the two excursions I took with yourselves last week.
The first was the coasteering trip on Tuesday. The variety of jumps and climbing/traversing along with the hidden cave made for a very enjoyable morning. The guide also took the time to ensure that everyone was comfortable with the jumps that they were making, and where necessary offered alternative height descents.
The second trip was the guided hike along Torrent de Pareis. This was one of the highlights of my holiday. A nicely paced walk through an amazing landscape. As with the coasteering the guides were both very attentive to the abilities and requirements of the participants and even took the time to explain how to move safely and efficiently in the canyon.
I made the bookings in the Pollensa Shop. The bookings were taken on two different days. On both occasions the ladies who served me took the time to answer my questions and to ensure that I was happy with where the meeting points where located.
Overall, I had two very good experiences with your company and would not hesitate to recommend or book activities with you again in the future.
Thank you, Richard
